Appearances in video games[edit]

Luigi's Mansion[edit]

Gold Ghost first appears in Luigi's Mansion. It attacks by spin punching Luigi in the game.

A Gold Ghost first appears in the game when Luigi tries to access the Parlor, only to realize that the doors are locked. He then heads downstairs and hears a ghost laugh; the laugh was from a Gold Ghost.

Downstairs, Luigi finds a Gold Ghost floating in the Foyer with a key. It spots Luigi, drops the key, and flees off to the Parlor. Luigi then collects the key and unlocks the doors to the Parlor. He then enters.

Inside the Parlor, Luigi is immediately ambushed by a Gold Ghost. Luigi creeps away from the Gold Ghost that ambushed him. An old man then appears and tries to suck the Gold Ghost inside of his vacuum cleaner, but did not successfully do so.

Luigi then greets the old man, revealed to be Professor E. Gadd. Three Gold Ghosts then randomly appear to pursue them, after they introduced each another. Luigi and E. Gadd then quickly head to the lab.

At the lab, Luigi is taken to the Training Room to train himself to catch ghosts. He faces against eleven Gold Ghosts who, unlike the ones at the mansion, do not attack Luigi. The Gold Ghosts only tease Luigi. Luigi's goal in the Training Room is to vacuum as many Gold Ghosts as he is able to. After training, he heads back to the mansion.

At the Mansion, Luigi enters the Parlor again. He notices six candlesticks with a purple flame on all of them. He extinguishes the candlesticks, and the paintings complain to Luigi for extinguishing the candles, as it caused the room to dimly become purple. Three Gold Ghosts then appear in the Parlor, all ready to attack Luigi. Luigi manages to vacuum all three of them inside of his Poltergust 3000. He then continues his quest, more Gold Ghosts waiting to be found.

Minor appearances[edit]

A Gold Ghost briefly appears at the Starbeans Café in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. It also makes an appearance, along with some other ghosts from Luigi's Mansion, at the Luigi's Mansion tennis court in Mario Power Tennis and the mini-game Terror Tennis.

It has minor roles in other games, including: appearing at the Luigi's Mansion stadium in Mario Super Sluggers, the mini-game Specter Inspector in Mario Party 8, a trophy shared by it, a Purple Puncher, and a Blue Twirler in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and spectators at the Luigi's Mansion stadium of Mario Sports Mix.

In Nintendo Land, Gold Ghost makes a cameo appearance as a suit. There are five Miis which wear suits of it in Luigi's Ghost Mansion, one of the mini-games of Nintendo Land.
